My nickname was ‘Etty’ in college. The spelling changed to ‘Ettie’ later. Although I named my creative studio Ettie’s Attic, I generally go by my given name Esther.

Exploring old attics is one of my favorite things, because even though they are often places where things go to be forgotten, I see them as places full of possibilities because I’m passionate about breathing life back into tired things (and people).

Seeing possibilities everywhere is involuntary for me. However, it directly impacts my life in both positive and negative ways. Positively, I find amazing vintage and unique home decor pieces and will soon be setting up an online shop to make some of those. However, it can negatively impact my life because I can see possibilities doesn’t mean I need to invest time, energy or space to that thing.

I’m a teacher at heart, so I’m always looking for the lesson in every situation. I want to learn and then share those lessons with others who might also be wondering about the same things in life.

As a follower of Jesus, most of my lessons are going to have a spiritual component. It is important to me that I grow in my knowledge of Him. As I get to know Him better, I get to understand myself better as well and the amazing thing is that I get to know what Jesus thinks of me. We can know this because we have the Word of God and it is full of letters to us from the heart of God.

My passion project is Death by Disorganization: Lessons on Dying to Self in the Midst of Chaos. It’s a journey to resting in peace while I follow Jesus.
